A special thanks to these Dickensians for their contributions to this site

Robert Giddings

Robert Giddings

Professor emeritus at Bournemouth University. Bob contracted polio as a child and both battled and immensely enjoyed life from a wheelchair. He was a fervent Dickensian and the remarkable story of his life can be found in his autobiography You Should See Me in Pyjamas. He and I corresponded quite a bit in the early 2000s and he never failed to entertain and encourage (in his Christmas cards he gave me the honorary title of professor). Bob passed away in 2012 - Obituary in The Guardian.

Herb Moskovitz

Herb Moskovitz

Herb was a member of The Friends of Dickens New York, an official branch of the Dickens Fellowship. He was an avid theater lover and spent many years working in theater as a set and lighting designer and performer. Although we never met personally, we visited many times via email and telephone. Herb graciously contributed many articles to this website. A true Dickensian, Herb passed away May 6, 2022.

Dr Ruth Richardson

Dr Ruth Richardson

Ruth is a historian and the author of Dickens and the Workhouse, The Making of Mr. Gray's Anatomy, and Death, Dissection and the Destitute. She is a personal friend and shares her incredible knowledge of London with me when I visit the city.

Michael Patrick Hearn

Michael Patrick Hearn

Michael is the author of The Annotated Christmas Carol. He has also annotated The Wizard of Oz and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He is a recognized expert on The Wizard of Oz and its author L. Frank Baum.
